Smoothwall Joins Forces with Leading e-Safety Partners at BETT to Support Schools with Safeguarding Challenges

Proud to be heading back to BETT, Smoothwall is looking for 2016 to be the biggest and best year yet. Find Smoothwall on Stand E300 alongside EduGeek, the number one resource for IT Techs in Education.

BETT 2016 will see Smoothwall and its e-Safety partners, e-Safe Systems and the IWF, providing expert-led sessions aimed at supporting schools and colleges to strengthen their e-safety strategies. Talks will run daily from the e-Safe Zone on Stand E300 and will feature presentations on the Prevent Duty, Ofsted safeguarding policy changes, cyberbullying, mental health and more.

Claire Stead, UK Marketing Manager for Smoothwall says: “The e-Safe Zone is the result of months of planning to ensure we have a panel of specialist speakers that can provide the best possible advice to our customers on a wide range of areas. Everyone who works in a school has a part to play in ensuring the safety of its students; I would encourage visitors to BETT to come in join in one of our free talks.”

Already confirmed is Mark Donkersley, from e-Safe the forensic behaviour monitoring service, and representatives from the Internet Watch Foundation. There will also be presentations from secondary and FE school leaders and e-safety managers, who will discuss real safeguarding cases, and effective processes for identifying, reporting, and escalating safeguarding incidents. A full schedule of speakers will be announced soon, so look out for email updates.

Claire Stead elaborates on the importance of e-safety: “The most important challenge for school leaders over the next 12 months is ensuring they meet their Prevent Duty and Ofsted obligations. Smoothwall is committed to helping schools, colleges and universities to be confident in every aspect of safeguarding, and to fully understand how changes to Government and Ofsted policies affect their safeguarding operations.”

In addition to showcasing new e-Safety products at BETT, Smoothwall is launching a new desktop appliance designed to make web filtering accessible to everyone, including small primary schools. There will also be an opportunity for customers to see the new simplified user-interface of the web filter favoured by more than 7000 UK schools, plus tonnes of other popular product features including content-aware filtering, and managed access to YouTube.

The Smoothwall smoothie bar will also be back for 2016, so if you’re feeling in need of a moment’s calm, why not enjoy a freshly-made Real-Time Remedy or a Unified Thirst Management smoothie?
