Smoothwall raise £4000 for Leeds Children’s Charity!

We’re pleased to announce that our fundraising efforts throughout 2017 have accumulated in raising an incredible £4000 for our charity of the year, Leeds Children’s Charity!

Smoothwall employees have gone above and beyond throughout 2017 for Leeds Children's Charity, with fundraising activities including the grueling Major Series, the competitive Leeds 10k and the challenging Big Bike Ride plus many more.

In addition to this, we’ve hosted two volunteer days to improve the charity’s new facilities at Lineham Farm. The days involved staff partaking in outdoor activities, including helping to secure the pig enclosure, removing grass in an enclosed area to create a multi-sensory playground, disposing of logs from a disused bike track and repairing the broken winding fence, using sticks from the surrounding woodland. Claire Stead, Head of Marketing at Smoothwall commented on the achievement:

We’re delighted to raise money for such a worthwhile cause, helping deliver some festive joy for those children who are least fortunate and most vulnerable. "Leeds Children’s Charity was an obvious choice for us as we share a common value: protecting children and making the world a better and more comfortable place for them. Local charities like LCC help bring hope and opportunities for so many underprivileged young people and we’re happy to be involved in such a positive cause.”

Ian Hargreaves, Chair at Leeds Children’s Charity, said:

"On behalf of Trustees of Leeds Children’s Charity, I would like to thank the team at Smoothwall for the hard work and commitment they have shown to our charity and the work that we deliver with young people. Leeds Children’s Charity has been delivering its work for over 116 years and without the support of companies like Smoothwall, our work would not be possible. “As the team at Smoothwall know, we are currently in merger discussions with Lineham Farm Children’s Centre Trust and in addition to raising the money they have, teams of people from the company have visited Lineham Farm and helped to develop and improve the on-site facilities for future use. We are very grateful for all their support.

We’re delighted to round off a great year of fundraising by also donating Christmas presents to the children supported by the charity. To find out more about the great work that Leeds Children’s Charity does and to show your support, visit their website.
